On Monday, 3 December, the construction of the new Centre for Metabolic and Immunological Diseases and Therapeutic Technologies Saxony (MITS) began with the official groundbreaking ceremony. The MITS is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Technische Universität Dresden and the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden.
The federal and state governments are supporting the new modern research building, which will require investments of more than 35.5 million euros. Together, experts in internal medicine, endocrinology, immunology, surgery, transplantation medicine, cell biology, and materials science will develop new medical approaches at the centre. Their work will concentrate primarily on new methods for the diagnosis, therapy and prevention of metabolic diseases such as diabetes. Therefore, many transCampus projects will benefit directly from the new capacities.
